Just got a taped phone call from the superintendent of schools.  There's been a written threat on schools in my county for tomorrow.  This follows a couple toward the end of last school year, and this one is written vs the others that were phoned in, which, psychologically I guess, gives it more weight.

Let's do some math:

Probability of this being a 9/11 hoax:  99.99%

How serious I take it when it's my kid at school:  100000000%

Me, my ex wife, my friends, we're all playing the same game in our heads.  We feel stupid because we know this isn't real.  We feel like if it were us, we'd go to school tomorrow defiantly.  We all decided to work from home and keep our kids with us anyway, because on the off off off off chance its real and something happens...

We live in strange times.  This never happened when I was a kid.  There was no terror...we had the cold war (i miss those days and you do too).  There was no columbines or what have you.  Kids handled their business on the playground at 3pm and the nerds took their beatings and continued to just count days until graduation and a life of more money than those who persecuted them (hey, i took my beatings too believe me).  There were no little emo bitches coming to school packing heat so they could take the jocks, the mean teacher, and the cheerleader that won't go to prom with them out.  But now, it's a different time.  And I hate it.

Anyway...I'll be home tomorrow.  Wishing for simpler times.
