Scott stopped by and commented on my post about the conversion from DasBlog to SubText. The big news there is that Scott has no intention of stopping DasBlog development, which is awesome news for that community. Also Clemens apparrently is back on board with DasBlog with renewed vigor for the project, so I expect that DasBlog will continue to grow and improve, which is great.
Scott also points out that DasBlog and SubText now share some code, I think the bulk of that being the Akismet implementation, which means that hopefully DasBlog will be as good as SubText at spamkilling. There's a major problem solved, and a complaint that I know a lot of DasBlog users have had.
For me, the decision really came down to two things. Data store, and boredom. Like I said earlier, DasBlog is great if you don't have a database, but my content folder is HUGE and near-unmanageable. Backing up was a chore and a half. With a SQL implementation, the content management is trivial, and I felt like I was ready to go there.
Also...I've been using DasBlog for years now, and, well, I wanted to try something new. Technology wanderlust if you will.
DasBlog team, keep up the great work! I would recommend DasBlog to anyone any day for sure.
