Seriously…we were out of the industrial revolution like 200 years ago…unions are basically bullshit at this point.  We live in a free-market country, there are no more sweatshops here, if you don’t like your job or your pay then you can seek employment elsewhere.  Unions hurt capitalism.

They had their point back in the day.  They were useful.  They were good for the people on the whole.  Now they are just corruptable instituionalized laziness and fat-cattery.  I hate that unions have the power to grind New York to a halt, which effects the country and the whole world.  It’s like non-violent 9/11 up in here, except that this time we’re knowingly letting it happen.  I have a buddy that works at a financial services company on Wall Street.  He said 2 people came to work yesterday.  He walked the 50 blocks.  Cabbies are price gouging.  But that’s not even the problem.  The problem is the unions.  There is no profession in the United States that requires union representation.

Unions are why I had an English teacher in 7th grade that pronounced and spelled the word “during” as “doing”, and why I had an Algebra teacher who couldn’t factor quadratic equations.

Unions are why unqualified  or less qualified people get jobs.  Some jobs are contractually reserved for union members.

Unions are why work on certain things doesn’t get done as quickly as it could.  Unions are not agile.

Unions are why we can’t service some clients with telephony issues in New York after 5 pm.

Even union members get fucked more than they get helped.  If union rules prevent you from doing something, like say picking up extra shifts for Christmas cash, sorry pal.  Plus, don’t forget that you gotta pay those Union dues.

Ever wonder why unions were always associated with the mob?  They’re like the same thing.

So, in short, unions are bullshit and need to go.  That’s why I get all steamed anytime I hear someone suggest that software should be unionized.  Unions stifle creativity and agility, and as a result, kill competition.  I really can’t stress this enough…we need to be voting anti-union.  We need to send that message.  I don’t care if you are a Red or a Blue, unions are bad for you.  Just look at New York.
