What a nice thing to wake up to this morning.  We made it to the end of the names for the year, and it’s a bitch.  (One only wonders, with a month to go in the season, how far into the greek alphabet we’ll get (for those of you who don’t live on the gulf coast and don’t obsess over hurricanes, the names wrap to the greek alphabet after W))

Here’s a look at where I stand in all this:

Wilmaprojected

Right there on the outer north edge of the “Projected Path”.  This is, again for those of you who have the luxury of not knowing how to read hurricane maps, the projected path of the eye.  The position of certain weather systems and the seasonal gulf winds are going to make the chances of the eye hitting me very slim.  The more likely path is south between Tampa and Miami.

Well, I’m in the clear right?  I mean, that thing is tiny!

No…the real picture is the “Satellite View” which, if we look at the current Carribean picture here we will see that Wilma spans an area roughly correspondent to the length of Florida, which means that even if the eye hits south of center on the projected path, at a Category 2, I still get strong tropical storm winds with Category 1 gusts.  And a lot of rain.

Oh well, been there, done that, we had 3 in my area last year (4 total in the state(one of which left me out of power for a few days(but I wasn’t on the news blaming anyone(but I digress)))), may as well take on the meanest of them all (so far, because that’s what they said about Rita(and Katrina for that matter)).
