A little memeing (really? is that a word? I say yes!) thanks to Larry O'Brien…
You’re stuck inside Farenheit 451, which book do you want to be?
Well…to burn or not to burn, that is the question. Let’s go for an ironic answer and say Bonfire of the Vanities. (Yes…I realize…)
Have you ever had a crush on a fictional character?
Most of the stronger characters that have really affected me have been male…maybe that says something about my reading patterns… or something about male-centric authors…or maybe that 9 times out of 10 chicks are only major players in chick novels….that and I read a lot of non-fiction. However, Susan Fletcher from Digital Fortress…I could have done very bad things to her…And now I feel bad because I can only think of a handful of heroines…Hester Prynne, Julia, the girls from the Crucible…well that was adulterer, betrayer, and bitchy teenagers, respectively…i should quit talking about this now.
The last book you bought was:
Schrodinger’s Rabbits
What are you currently reading:
I usually have 3 or 4 going at a time. The current list is Bhagavad Gita, Mind Hacks, Code Generation in .Net, and We the Living. Yes…very very strange combination.
Five books you’d take to a deserted island:
I’m with Larry on the Army Survival Manual. I’ve seen it in B&N and thought about picking it up…and definitely taking it on this trip…know what I mean?
As for the rest…gotta wonder, how long will I be there. Am I going for things that I’ll take a while to read…war and peace style? Or books that will make me happy? Let’s split the difference.
The other four are: Siddhartha, The Bible, …um…I’ve been 5 minutes now trying to come up with the final two…I think one will definitely be 1984…and the last will be Walden.
Who will you pass this stick (3 persons) on to, and why?
Not sure 3 people read this blog
. Bill may pick it up because I know he’s an avid book reader and may be even more into books than I am.
I also can’t believe I just went through and amazon associates linked all those books…as if anyone is going to buy them…
