Julia asks how?

I listen to music while I code, but only music with a solid beat usually.  Also, I listen to TV or movies that I have seen a jillion times before.

I read something somewhere about the ADD, which I may have, if I cared.  However, the part that interested me was that the parts of my mind that aren't directly doing what I'm doing (reading, coding, whatever) start doing other stuff, and invariably that stuff is cooler than what I'm currently doing, and I wander.  Music with the beat, or, slightly less successful but still passing, movies that I know pretty much all the lines to, will keep that part of my mind occupied and allow me to concentrate on what I'm doing.

The side effect seems to be that hours will go by before I realize it.  Hyperfocus.

How do you people listen to music while you are coding?:

I just can't. It's a little lonely working here on on a gray Sunday afternoon, so I popped in a CD that I bought in Santa Fe, NM a few years ago: Gypsy Passion: New Flamenco. This doesn't help me work. I can't sit still now. I just want to get up and dance around the room!
