Okay, so I went back to NYC a week ago. A good time was had by all. Mostly. But a couple of things occurred to me flying from Orlando (MCO) to La Guardia (LGA) and back. During hurricane time.
First, I want a newbie (n00b) security line at the airport. My boss and I, and like 70% of other passengers know the drill. Get in line. Pull laptop out of bag, put it in its own bin. Put pocket items and cell in small bin. Shoes and belt off. In the bin. Bag on the conveyor. Walk through with no beeps, collect stuff, head to gate. But then you have the first time travellers, or first time since 9/11. They don't know what to do with themselves. Hunting for ID. Beeping because of shoes, or necklaces. Have to be told to remove laptop from bag. They're holding us up. I just want to get down to the gates, get some coffee, and chill until boarding time. There needs to be a n00b line. First time travellers to the left please, we're going to go over all the instructions with you.
Bah.
Then, at the gate, why do people insist on crowding the gangway door when their row number/group number hasn't been called? Sit your ass down and wait your turn. You're just making it more difficult for the rest of us.
Then, why can't people go to the damn bathroom before they get on the plane? And why do they insist on getting up and moving about the cabin when we have not yet reached 10,000 feet? And why are they allowed to bring on those big ass carry-ons that are clearly above size restrictions and take up all the overhead space? And why do they keep their cell phones on? And why don't the flight attendants grow a pair and make these people follow the rules?
And why the hell can't people deplane efficiently? It shouldn't take so damn long to get off the plane if you plan ahead.
And do we all have to crowd the same spot waiting for baggage? And are you really so stupid you can't recognise your luggage on sight that you have to fiddle with every black suitcase?
People piss me off in general, but people who don't travel well should be shot.
